America's immigration debate went into overdrive over a policy of separating children from parents crossing the border illegally
미국의 이민 논쟁은 국경을 넘어온 불법이민자들의 아이들과 부모를 떼어놓으면서 시작되었다고 합니다 images of children separated from their parents sparked a firestorm. attorney Jeff Sessions created more controversy when he cited the Bible defending the policy eventually the President signed an executive order ending the practice of separating families 부모와 떨어진 아이들의 사진은 큰 이슈가 되었는데요. 변호사 제프는 이에 관한 정책에 대하여 성경의 말씀과 함께 반박했고, 결국 트럼프 대통령은 정책에 관하여 철회 명령을 하게 되었습니다 both sides of the immigration debate claim a common source for their possessions, the Bible John Jessup explains how their arguments exposed tactics used throughout history and the best approach to find true meaning and inspiration in the Bible 이러한 이민 논쟁 사건을 보며 성경을 통해 영감과 참된 해결책을 찾는 것이 효율적이라는 것을 보여주고 있는 것 입니다 "Jesus said to him" "let it be this way for now" “주님이 그에게 말했어요” “지금은 이렇게 해보자꾸나” in this biblical storytelling class students dive into scripture 학생들은 성경말씀에 집중을 기울입니다 "and after Jesus was baptized, just as he was coming up out of the water. Suddenly, we saw the heavens opened before him" “주님이 세례를 받고 물 밖으로 나오셨을 때, 갑자기 하늘이 그 위로 열리게 되었어요” exploring ways to help others connect with its story's themes and message 성경의 핵심과 메시지를 효과적으로 전달하는 것이죠 I can say that it is very biblical to enforce the law 법을 시행하는 것은 매우 성서적이라고 할 수 있어요 in political circles however the Bible has been connected to the recent immigration debate 하지만 성경은 이미 이민관련 논쟁에서도 많이 연관이 되어가고 있습니다 I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13 to obey the laws of the government because God is obtained ordain the government 저는 로마서 13장에 나오는 사도 바울의 이야기를 추천하고 싶습니다. 하나님께 순종하는 것이 우리의 법을 지키는 것과 비슷한것이죠 those who selectively use the Bible to justify this cruelty are ignoring a central tenet of Christianity jesus said suffer the little children unto me he did not say let the children suffer 성경을 빗대어 잔인하고 비도덕적인 행위를 감추려는 것은 무엇인가 잘못되었습니다. 주님은 아픈 아이들을 나에게 데려오라고 하셨지 방치하라 하지 않으셨습니다 I think the Bible is always significant and always relevant 성경은 언제나 중요하며 옳은 것 같습니다 Wesley Theological Seminary President David McAllister Wilson says avoiding agendas is the best approach when reading Scripture adding that allows the Bible to transform the reader based on what God's saying 웨슬리 신학 대학의 데이비드 맥 칼리스터 윌슨 총장은 성경 말씀에 따라 독자들이 다르게 이해할 수 있는 주제를 피하는 것이 최선의 방법이라고 말합니다 after the negative headlines and sound bites some wonder if the tactic may actually backfire by turning the curious away from the Holy Word. 신성한 말씀에서 비롯되지만 부정적인 기사와 소리는 오히려 안 좋은 결과를 초래할 수 있으니 말이죠 “it seems to be tearing people right and left but this is something that isn't necessarily new to American history is it?" 자칫 사람들을 양쪽으로 가를 수도 있는 문제잖아요 하지만 이러한 일이 미국 역사에 처음 있는 것은 아니지요? it's not you know in the Museum of the Bible our mission statement is to invite all people to engage with the Bible we don't tell them how to engage and so that the fact that there is a controversy but they're using God's Word there's some form of engagement that's happening as a result of that 아닙니다. 저희 성경 박물관의 주제 또한 많은 사람들에게 성경을 참여하도록 강요하는 것이 아닙니다. 그저 그들이 하나님의 말씀을 스스로 알게 하는 것이죠. the museum wants to spark those conversations by highlighting how Americans have used the Bible throughout history from the revolution to the civil war to women's rights as well as the civil rights movement 박물관 측은 또한 미국인들이 성경을 통해 어떻게 과거의 혁신과 남북전쟁 밑 여성의 권리 등 많은 역사를 극복했는지 알기 원한다고 했습니다 no matter their positions MacAlister Wilson says it's important that American Christians think of themselves as dual citizens 맥 알리스터 윌슨 총장은 어떠한 상황에 있건 크리스천들이 자신을 이중 시민이라고 여겨야 한다고 말합니다 we are voting members and participants of a democracy so that necessarily places us in the public square but we also believe what Jesus said the good news was which is the kingdom of God is at hand so we're also citizens of the kingdom of God 우리는 물론 투표를 통하여 민주적인 틀 안에서 생활하고 있지만 하나님의 손에서 살아가고 있는 하늘의 백성이기도 하기 때문이죠 so if we allow ourselves to be bounded by our common kinship as children of God and bound by attention to the Bible in all its complexity and to the experience of the Holy Spirit whatever that might be if that's the boundary of our discussion I think we're gonna be ok 만약 우리 자신이 하나님의 자식임을 인지하고 성경에 귀 기울일 수 있다면, 저는 어떤 일이 있건 우리가 괜찮을 것이라 생각합니다 John Jessup CBN News Washington 워싱턴에서 CBN 뉴스 존 제스업이였습니다 |
